A friend once asked me, "What would you be if you weren’t a designer?" I answered: Detective. When I was a kid, I was a big fan of Sherlock Holmes novels. I loved to observe people, how they act and what things they used, and tried to imagine each person’s unique story. It’s this desire to understand people from different backgrounds that inspires me to be a designer.
Just like a detective, during my design process I observe how people interact with each other and things in the environment, discover their motives, analyze all the possibilities, and connect the dots to reach a solution. But of course, I do this with a lot more creativity and a lot less pipe smoking.
