I have always enjoyed building and creating things as a kid, and on my eighth birthday, I received my first Lego set. It had 400 pieces and came in a big black box with a pirate and castle theme. I started out building according to the booklet, but before long, my imagination took hold and I began creating everything from cars, to houses, to fantastical environments. I even contrived stories and character roles for the little figurines in my creations.
Today the Lego set sits stored away in my garage in its faded box, having played its part in stoking my passion for imagining, creating, and building. It is this passion that drew me towards product design and it is also what drives me to create things that will bring smiles at every unboxing.
The actual needs of the end user are always the center of attention of my designs. The beauty of design comes from the heart, where things are not designed. As a designer, I strive to capture the pureness of this beauty. Exploring new topics and finding fast, intelligent and simple solutions is my focus. I am still the same curious boy looking at a new Lego set. My name is Changhsuan Pai.
