Daniel Kim

Statement

From a young age, I always had close attachments to the objects that I used owned; the Lego sets, telescopes, puzzles and other toys. The experiences with each object gave me various feelings, impressions and memories, which later developed as intimate relationship between objects and me.

For me, designing is creating a positive relationship between users and a product. Products can be facilitators, arbitrators, and partners that can enhance the user’s lives in various ways.

I believe ultimately designs exist for people. People are always the first priority and main source of information and inspiration for my design. Perhaps the tiny things that exist within that person’s life will become sparkles that burst into an amazing idea. Through the process of developing ideas and refining the details, my products continuously evolve to create emotional value for that person. During every single moment of my design process, the word “person” affects me to create products that emphasize the emotional value. This is my design process, and this is what I think design is.
