Statement

Hi, I am Mary Kim.

As a child, I enjoyed making random things out of materials around me, motivated by my curiosity and slightly quirky mind. Today as a designer, I create inclusive and meaningful products for purposes beyond myself.

For me, a product is complete only when it’s relationship to the user is at it’s core. Understanding the system which the user inhabits is key to designing products and systems that can harmoniously integrate into their lives. For this reason, I find crucial design opportunities through a process of analysis and problem solving, while keeping a flexible perspective that ranges from micro to macro point of view. I want to design products and systems that afford new possibilities and empower the individual.
