Statement

Hola, bienvenidos me llamo Dave Hansung, es un placer tenerlos aquí. Hi, I’m Dave Hansung... Being a Korean American growing up in Chile has exposed me to many points of view. Experiencing new ways of looking at our world has nurtured my creativity and taught me importance of being adaptable.

Before my time at ArtCenter, I was in the hospitality industry. Working as a restaurant manager and sushi chef, I learned to connect with people and work with teams. As a designer, I’ve realized my approach to design is similar to cooking. I think about what ingredients can be mixed and matched to create new experiences… This approach has also helped me bring out the best flavor within a team. Some people are sweet and some are spicy, but too much of one thing can ruin dish. This has taught me the importance of balance and to care for each ingredient. I love to explore and experiment, creating new mixtures through ideation and prototyping to improve the experiences of products and collaborate with others to create concepts that are fresh and with purpose.
