I love working with my hands. For it is with my hands where everything begins. The smooth roll of a ballpoint pen, expressing ideas with broad brush strokes on a blank canvas, or the vibrant warmth I feel through my hands as they coast along the surface of a pine plank; these tactile capabilities create a physical connection and experience that, for me, is second to none.
In addition to working with my hands, from a young age, I have always been fully absorbed in getting first-hand, active experiences, whether it was building a bench in my grandpa’s backyard from scratch, chanting a Haka with the Kiwis, or leading my squad. Immersing myself in experiences has helped me to appreciate the depths of authentic insight. Design is the tool of choice that I use to apply and express the physical manifestations of those experiences.
