Hi. My name is Jiwon Yang.
I’m originally from Korea and have a BFA in design from Sookmyung Women’s University. While getting my design degree I was introduced to a variety of different forms including sculpture, painting, architecture, graphic design and product design. I found that I am drawn to the process of making. I like to be hands-on and I want to make things that are useful and make a difference.
I find unique insights for what people need and fulfill it through my design. I love the mock-up process where I can physically interact with my ideas and turn them into tangible products. Starting from the initial ideation to developing final products that are ready for manufacturing is so incredibly rewarding. During my internship at Munchkin, I was able to utilize my skills from start to finish, working with engineers and producing toys for kids that are on the market today. One day, my 2 year old niece, Jiwoo, was fussy and crying so I decided to give her one of my toys. She stopped crying immediately and was completely focused on my design. It was truly one of the happiest moments of my life.
I’m looking forward to my next journey, making new things that matter.
