Statement

Hi there! My name is Devin Montes, and I feel like I’ve been a Product Designer longer than I’ve actually known about Product Design.

As a kid, I was already reinventing things to serve my own needs, tearing toys apart to build my own custom games or crazy Rube Goldberg contraptions. (Honestly, how my scooter with a built-in FM radio, sparking brakes, and revving handlebars didn’t take off is beyond me!)

Nevertheless, 15 years later, I’ve made my way through Art Center, and I’m sure I’ve really found my calling. I thoroughly enjoy every step of the design process, from learning about people and developing insights to making non-obvious connections that generate innovative concepts. Even the technical aspects of making things that actually work is fascinating to me. I see every design problem like a puzzle, and I have a unique and powerful way of solving them by learning about everything I can and synthesizing a relevant solution.

On top of that, I have a contagious enthusiasm towards design, and I think that makes me useful in any team. It’s something that shines through my work, and I want it to be felt by the end-user. If I can improve lives and bring delight to people by any means, I’m happy!
