Julie Hong

Statement

Hello, my name is Julie Hong. I moved to Minnesota when I was 16 and had to figure out how to adapt. Observation and analysis became my tools for survival and I learned to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Art classes became my universal language, and allowed me to express without limitation.

Design is a playful activity that acknowledges the ordinary and can make it more thoughtful. I am constantly asking myself why things are the way they are and imagining the alternatives, the potential.

Detailed observations, rigorous questioning, and multiple iterations help me find the right form, function and material to make my design more delightful.
