Emily Harrington

Statement

Hello, my name is Emily Harrington. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts and moved to California during high school. Ever since I was little, I have always been a “girly tomboy”. I was either in the garage tinkering on cars with my dad or in my room looking at Vogue and designing shoes. The gear-head and shopaholic in me thought automotive design at CCS in Detroit was a perfect fit. After a few years, however, I knew something was missing. I wanted my design thinking to be a blend of both style and function.

I am in love with soft goods, the perfect mix of function and aesthetics. I start with a deep understanding of my user and generate ideas that consider both new technologies and alternative manufacturing practices.

I am always looking at advances these fields offer that can enhance performance and maximize functionality. Next comes the development of the aesthetic story, a blend of branding, budding trends and human psychology. Ultimately, I want my designs to push the boundaries of innovation and style.
