Statement

My name is Hiroshi Sakuma. Growing up in Japan, I fell in love with the stationery culture. I explored and collected all kinds. Then I was introduced to a fountain pen and realized that they are not only writing tools, but an extension of the body, a product that becomes intimate, forging a deep connection over time. Through stationery, I developed a passion for creating relationships between products and people.

To build a relationship, materials are very important. It determines how the product will be treated, touched, and received by people. I want to change the perception of ordinary materials by using technological tools to bring out hidden characteristics. Discovering the value of ordinary materials allows me to create new relationships between products and people.
